Moringa Oleifera as an Alternative Detergent
1 Chapter 1 THE PROBLEM Introduction This study about Moringa Oleifera enables the creation of a new homemade detergent and its target to clean fabric and furniture. This study will prove that even vegetables like Malunggay can also be used as house cleaners. This study will try to improve the cleaning powers of the other commercial detergents by adding malunggay extract to it. It will prove that the power of malunggay is not limited and this will prove people wrong. They think malunggay can only be used as medicines or food, but the researchers study, Malunggayââ¬â¢s purpose is to be a liquid detergent. There is a great possibility that malunggayââ¬â¢s power can also clean items in the household. The target of this study is to improve the progress of cleanliness in our economy. Malunggay can clean and it can dissolve dirt in a great speed. Chemically speaking, there is a great possibility that malunggayââ¬â¢s chlorophyll might have the power not the leaves itself. The decisi on in doing this study was made during this late year of 2011 since herbal products such as malunggay shampoos and conditioners. These herbal items are greatly needed by the public market not because only it has a small price, but also it has an effect. Malunggay can clean stains and dissolve them in a great time. Testing malunggayââ¬â¢s power but sooner and sooner, malunggayââ¬â¢s power can be soon unveiled and discovered. When this happens, there will be a great upgrade in the whole economy. 2 Statement of the Problem Moringa Oleifera as an alternative detergent This study will be conducted to develop a horseradish (Moringacae/Moringa Oleifera) liquid detergent.Specifically, this study will attempt to answer the following questions. 1. How long does it take for the moringa detergent to remove stains? 1. 1 Catsup 1. 2Coffee 1. Is moringa detergent better than the stain removing capacity of the commercial detergent? Significance of the study This study will contribute to a grow ing number of demands to a commercial detergent by helping people work easier and finish earlier. People need many detergents for their works such as cleaning clothes but with malunggay detergents, you can clean in just 2-5 wipes the furniture. This can also motivate and challenge school authorities to a cleaner and have a less stress and itââ¬â¢s only for a low cost price. This can contribute to household maids and moms so that they would not have a hard time in removing stains that need to be washed out for a very long time. Scope and Delimitation This study is focused on making an alternative liquid detergent from malunggay. This study is limited to only using malunggay as a detergent not as using this as shampoos and conditioners. The investigation is concerned on the economy of the Philippines may sink down to poverty because of high prices of items in the public market which are needed in great amount have a high cost. This study does not only want the economy of the Philippi nes but also the worldââ¬â¢s economy because it can contribute to world safety because it does not have poisonous and hazardous to health chemicals. In the way, we can contribute to the economy, we can save lives, and we can save Mother Earth. 8 Chapter 3 METHODOLOGY This chapter presents the method and procedure in conducting the study. This includes the Research Design, Materials and Instrumentation, Collection of materials, Preparation of Treatments, Detergent Making, Testing and Evaluation of the Detergentââ¬â¢s Quality and, Statistical Treatment. Research Design The researchers used CRD or Completely Randomized Design because this study has replications of treatments (R) was assigned completely at random to independent experimental subjects. This study has 2 treatments; T1 = Control and T2 = Malunggay (Moringa Oleifera). Materials and InstrumentationThis experimentation used 1 mL of Malunggay extract, 1 mL of Malunggayââ¬â¢s chlorophyll, 10 samples of Malunggay seeds. C ollection of Materials This experiment was done in General Santos City. 1 mL of Malunggay extract and 1 mL of Malunggayââ¬â¢s chlorophyll was from General Santos City. The 10 samples of Malunggay seeds are from the local residences in one of our researchers. 9 Preparation of Treatments Malunggay Extract (mL) Treatments T1 R2 R1 T2 R2 R1 LEGEND T- Treatments R- Replication 10 Experimental Layout T2R1 T1R1 T2R2 T1R2 Legend T ââ¬â Treatment T2 ââ¬â Malunggay E. T1 ââ¬â ControlR ââ¬â Replication 11 Detergent MakingIn making this detergent, you will need 2 cups of distilled water, Fragrance, 4 packs of unflavored gelatin, an empty jar and, Red food coloring. Heat one cup of distilled water until it boils. Then, stir in 4 packages of unflavored gelatin until dissolved. Remove the mixture from heat and stir in another 1 cup of distilled water. Add 10-20 drops of fragrance and coloring. Pour Malunggay extract and Chlorophyll into the mixture. Stir the mixture then place i n a cold temperature for approximately 5-10 minutes. Pour the gel into a clean jar or a small container. Testing and Evaluation of the Detergentââ¬â¢s QualityThe Malunggay detergent was compared to a commercial detergent by sinking them in the same size of a pail and at the same time with the same number of water and limit of detergent. The same stains were also added. Photographs were taken for public documentations. Statistical Analysis (ANOVA) It used the t-test dependent to determine the significant differences in the two treatments and replications and to understand the statistical independence of one treatment to another treatment on another material and t-test was used to determine which detergent was faster enough to clean the same amount of stains. 2 Chapter IV Results and Discussion This chapter presents and explains the data gathered in texture, graphical and tabular manner. Table 4. 1 Mean Duration in Removing Catsup Stains Treatments| R1| R2| R3| Mean| T1(Commercial) | 13. 00s| 17. 05s| 17. 00s| 15. 22s| T2(Malunggay)| 11. 25s| 12. 35s| 15. 17s| 12. 59s| Table 4. 2 Mean Duration in Removing Coffee Stains Treatments| R1| R2| R3| Mean| T1(Commercial)| 17. 25s| 18. 14s| 17. 25s| 15. 51s| T2(Malunggay)| 18. 35s| 25. 17| 15. 21s| 17. 91s|From the table, it could be seen that replicates 1, 2 and, 3 reflect the seconds in cleaning the stains by each detergent. The mean duration in removing catsup stains using T2 (Malunggay) is much faster at 12. 59s compared to T1 (commercial detergent) which is at 15. 22s. However, the mean duration in removing coffee stains using Malunggay was a bit higher at 17. 91s. The above data prove that Malunggay is indeed an effective household material in removing stains. 13 Chapter V CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONSThis chapter states in concise form the generalization in the form of conclusions and the solutions to the problem in the form of recommendations. Conclusions Based on the analysis of the results of this study, th e researchers arrived at the following conclusions: 1. For the Moringa Oleifera detergent to remove the stains, it takes: 1. 1) 12. 59s to remove the Catsup Stains 1. 2) 17. 91s to remove the Coffee Stains 2. Moringa detergent is better than the stain removing capacity of the commercial detergent because it can clean faster without much scrubbing.Recommendations There were factors of the study that need further analysis and consideration. To this, extent, the researchers came up with the following recommendations: 1. Antibacterial Activity Test of Moringa detergent should be conducted. 2. Further studies to the potency of Moringa detergent in removing stains such as chocolate, soy sauce and alike should be done. 14 Abstract This study reveals the use of Moringa Oleifera or locally known as Malunggay, as an alternative detergent in cleaning fabrics and furniture. The alternative detergent was tested against the commercial detergent, by measuring the estimated time both detergents coul d clean. The outcome of the test was that the newly made detergent almost has the same estimated time with the commercial detergent, but cleaning the stains needs more scrubbing if the commercial detergent is used, while on the other hand, cleaning the stains with the alternative detergent provides less scrubbing. Thus, Moringa liquid detergent is an effective household material in removing stains.

Globalization Is Good Essay
Taiwan: Discussion questions 1. How has ââ¬Ëland reformââ¬â¢ contributed to the rapid industrialization of Taiwan? Back in the 1950s the government of Taiwan started to offer yields of land for families to own and operate off of. The land, which was supplied with food/crop, released man power for industry to prosper. As the government distributed the land, the owners took advantage. Taiwanââ¬â¢s rural beginnings lead to industrial wealth like Mr. Wang, shown in the film. These peopleââ¬â¢s homes acted as factories inside and out. There was originally cheap labor and long hours which allowed Taiwan to offer cheap goods for western markets. 2. What role have ââ¬ËSweat Shopsââ¬â¢ and long hours played in Taiwanââ¬â¢s ââ¬Ërags to richesââ¬â¢ story? The cheap labor and long hours of the sweat shops laid the groundwork for the prosperous future of the Taiwanese. This was encouraged by the reforming government at the time. All of these sweat shops were producing cheap goods for Western markets. The work was indeed long and hard but it was a crucial step in Taiwanââ¬â¢s road to riches. 3. The forces unleashed by rapid industrialization brought increased competition for labor in Taiwan. What impact did this increased competition have on wages and the standard of living of the Taiwanese people? Increased competition meant only the really competitive companies survived. Companies like ACER responded to increased competition with innovation. They invented devices like the first desktop calculator and the pen watch. They were training thousands of engineers every year in order to produce these high tech goods for other markets to buy. The leaders of ACER strive to make their products the best and therefore others rely on them for success. 4. According to the global computer giant ââ¬ËACERââ¬â¢ which is based in Taiwan, what are the keys to Taiwanââ¬â¢s economic success? Taiwanââ¬â¢s economic success can be credited to the easy access to start a business in the country. Statistics show that 1 in every 6 families have/had their hands in on their own business. In other terms, Taiwan has less bureaucracy and restrictions than other countries and opens up doors for entrepreneurial families. A deregulated economy has opened doors for many men and women. 5. Taiwan has thrived in the global economy by specializing in what they do best! How have they managed to survive and prosper without producing their traditional rural products? Are there any dangers in this approach? When adults moved into factories and off the rural fields, they could afford to educate their children and therefore prepare them for a promising future in business ventures such as IT. Prosperity can then increase the return on the education. A good analogy they used was that the parents developed the boxes on the shelves and the kids produced the goods and software inside. Taiwan is constantly exposed to foreign competition which they take advantage of. 6. What role has globalization played in the increased wealth and improved political freedom of the people of Taiwan? Taiwan is a democracy, unlike 40 years ago when it was a dictatorship. There was a rapid transformation after the fall of their dictatorship. In the 1980s, Taiwan started to produce high tech gadgetry and the middle class started to rise and gain more freedom whether it be politics or economic rights. These laid the foundation for their stable democracy. Some even venture to call this Americanization. Taiwan has credited the businesses that have produced the best around the world as they work to adapt and expand (ie. Starbucks). Vietnam: Watching the Program: Discussion questions 7. What limits are placed on the employment of children in Nike factories in Vietnam? They do not employ any children under the age of 18 for footwear and age 16 for apparel. Child labor was outlawed in Vietnam in 1988 which allowed more room to educate the youth. What penalties are self-imposed by Nike on its factories if under-aged workers are discovered on site? The factory is responsible to pay the money for that child to complete school and continue paying them their wage. 8. Using the table that follows compare the life and conditions of Vietnamese factory workers working for Nike with the conditions of workers on farms or in State owned enterprises? What conclusions can you make from this? The business is good and Nike and doesnââ¬â¢t show any signs of letting down. The management of the company is also viewed as a strong aspect. Employees of Nike, who formerly worked on the farm, werenââ¬â¢t getting paid as much as on the farm- now they are getting as much as 5x more. By hearing these people interviewed and seeing how pleased they are, it is difficult to see what the anti-globalists are so stressed out about when it comes to companies like Nike. They seem to be ââ¬Å"doing the right thing.â⬠9. What negative impacts for less developed countries and their workers can come from anti-globalization groups promoting boycotts of goods produced by multinationals such as Nike? It has the threat of scaring them away from businesses such as Nike when really it can benefit their economy. These anti-globalization groups do not see what Nike has done for the people of Vietnam. The rumors and perceptions they feed the public makes Nike look bad. 10. How has the workplace practices of Nike impacted positively on other workplaces in Vietnam? Nikeââ¬â¢s growth in Vietnam has helped to stimulate the economy. Other workplaces look to model themselves off of them. The perception of Nike from the public is that they have a very good management, they have a clean and safe workplace, and they have very high employee satisfaction. All of this leads to increased output and increased profits. 11. How has Nike encouraged the growth of small businesses in Vietnam? Nike encourages others to start business in Vietnam by distributing loans to get them going. Many have prospered from this and business is now strong for them. 12. Will multinationals leave countries such as Vietnam once wage rates improve? What is the reaction of multinationals to this sort of argument? In the film, one man points out that Nike has been in countries like Thailand and Indonesia for 20 years. The productivity has gone up just as the wages have gone up. The people of Nike expect the same thing to occur in Vietnam. Even if they move on, Nike has played a pivotal role in developing the Vietnamese economy. Kenya : Watching the Program: Discussion questions 13. What factors are present within the Kenyan economy that discourage economic growth and improved living standards? Kenya closed its doors to globalization. The Kenyan government has never given farmers property rights. Land owners are not even allowed to build on their own land and develop it. All rights go to the government. Export restrictions create a lot of poverty. The poverty is due to the lack of reform. 14. What industries are portrayed as booming industries within the Kenyan economy? Why have they shown signs of success? The mobile phone industry is booming. The reason they have shown signs of success is because of their cheap prices and high demand. Also the secondhand clothing market is exposed to globalization and has led to their success. 15. What are subsidies, tariffs and import duties? What role does their imposition by developed countries play in limiting growth prospects and the adoption of ââ¬Ëmarket capitalismââ¬â¢ in the less developed world? The government has begun to tax businesses like the secondhand clothing markets and therefore restrict them from gaining significant profits. Also, countries have set tariffs on a majority of agricultural goods Kenya has to offer them. This restricts exports for Kenya. However there are some European countries and some of the Americas that specifically have low tariffs on Kenyaââ¬â¢s flower markets and allow Kenya to thrive there. The farmers also have subsidies on their crop restricting export to other markets outside of the country. Tariffs keep goods out and subsidies destroy markets on the homeland. 16. How do opponents of globalization, by their actions in the developed world, hinder the ability of less developed countries to improve living standards? Countries like Kenya donââ¬â¢t have the ability to compete in foreign markets because of the restrictions they face such as subsidies, tariffs, and import duties. Western civilization is shutting them and others out. We refuse to trade freely with goods such as agriculture and textiles. By dropping subsidies and tariffs, we could massively reduce the poverty in Africa.

Cultural Competency Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Cultural Competency - Research Paper Example The paper would primarily discuss the ways and means the school can help adapt the new students in the new environment. The school starts in two weeks time. Thus, creating a cultural proficiency within the school environment must become the priority of the educational leadership within the school. Sederberg (1984) claims that in organization the power belongs to those who can define or describe circumstances in ways that convince others that things are as they say they are. Educational leaders, who are endowed with effective communication skill and cultural understanding, have the capability to influence the cultural identity of the group within the institute thus facilitating changes in the institutional culture to adapt to the changing environment. Thus, the role of specialist teachers or teachers who are proficient in the language of the immigrant population becomes highly crucial. Learning the language and culture of the host country facilitates rapid adjustment. Hence, school administration and the teachers must take initiative in encouraging networking with immigrant population and their children so as to create awareness regarding the need to adapt to changes vis-Ã -vis language barrier and cross cultural understanding. As a specialist teacher, I would facilitate their adjustment by organizing interactive session to familiarize them with new language and culture. The primary aim would be to teach them important words of English so that they are able to communicate with the rest of the students. Another aspect would be to create cross cultural understanding. This is a very important aspect of teachers as leaders. They are able to motivate the students coming from diverse background to understand each others culture and develop mutual respect. Indeed, educational leadership helps in the process of acculturation. Initial loss of

Comptemporary issues in business pshcholgy 1 Essay
Comptemporary issues in business pshcholgy 1 - Essay Example Prior to psychoanalysisââ¬â¢s inception, phrenology was the popular psychology of the Victorian era (Wohl, 1996). The study of the skull formation and its resultant implications of the individualââ¬â¢s intelligence and place on the evolutionary scale was simple, easy, and accessible, and more often than not it was used to justify racism and other political agendas (Wohl, 1996). But at the turn of the century, psychoanalysis gained popularity under Freud, who, after observing the infamous case of Anna O., a woman who suffered from hysteria due to past experiences, pioneered the theory that all human beings are driven by unconscious urges (Boeree, 1997). The mind suddenly became much more complex than the shape of the skull and psychoanalysis called to the forefront how well a person can truly know and understand himself. Psychoanalysis and its break-off, psycho-dynamic psychology, analyse the mind as a series of unconscious layers. As a person experiences different struggles and traumas, his experiences impact his unconscious mind, which prompts him to unknowingly develop a maladapted function, or Defence Mechanism (Wikipedia, 2006). Psycho-dynamic psychology ultimately seeks to reveal the causes of an individualââ¬â¢s maladapted function. An example of psycho-dynamic psychology at work is in the character of Nora Helmer, of Henrik Ibsenââ¬â¢s A Dollââ¬â¢s House (1998). Nora Helmer is a housewife that embodies all of the outward ideals of Victorian propriety while harbouring a secret that could ruin her marriage and her family. Her relationship with her husband is complex and flawed. He refers to her as his ââ¬Å"little larkâ⬠and his ââ¬Å"squirrelâ⬠ââ¬â small, flighty, and vulnerable animals. Torvald Helmer seems to cherish and adore his wife, but in reality sees her as a charge or a child that must be taught and guided, and Nora not only complies with this image, but

Leading Edge Supply - Essay Example The importance of logistic edge supply is to trail down the circulation of the company stock and performance analysis. Initiating the aspect of logistic edge supply, intelligent platform comes into play since this provides key management data that in turn enables one to analyze critically the strengths and weaknesses attached across the supply chain. Other key management information includes optimization of planning route, understanding fraudulent activities that comes within the supply chain and enhance the workflow that usually is driven by data caused by intelligence platform (Ballou, 2003). Many companies ensure that implementation and utilization of leading edge supply is taken into consideration within the logistic systems of any organization. Strategic marketing communications Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
Strategic marketing communications - Essay Example Bottom up processing is one where the lower levels of management communicate with the higher level of management and this is where ideas might be floated up and also problems and concerns about various factors within the organization are communicated to the higher levels so that they can take action and solve the problems, the more efficient this process, the more loyal the employees are to the company because if they feel that they are being heard by the upper management they feel that they are a part of the organization as well because they have a role to play in the betterment of the organization and that is why their problems are being heard and solved. This kind of communication can be encouraged in many ways, for example having the same lunch or refreshment areas for all the levels of employees so that they can communicate in an environment with out being intimidated by the rank of the person that they wish to communicate with, the top management should be seen by the lower lev els of the employee ranks because that helps them to identify with individuals and the organization on the whole. Top down processing is where the top levels of management communicate with their subordinates with respect to the job instructions and other types of policy implementation, this kind of processing is very important because the dynamics of the organization depend on such type of a communications policy, generally it has been seen that companies that have a effective top down communication strategy have been able to reap much more employee loyalty and productivity rather than those companies that have a poor strategy in top down processing of communication, this is because companies that are better at this kind of communication can implement change effectively and frequently because they can communicate the though process behind the change process to the lower levels of employees and the employees feel and believe that the company has their betterment in mind when it feels the need to change any of the processes. This kind of communication process can be implemented by having a good telecommunication technology in place because people need to be told simultaneously of the policy changes that are being implemented and it is more faster than normal modes of communication. (Kotelnikov, 2005) (Monmouth, 2006) Managing Partnerships The horizontal communication process takes place between employees at the same levels, or managers at the same level, for example the marketing manager of an organization speaking to the financial manager and discussing the marketing budget. This kind of communication is very important because this is where bottlenecks can be created or avoided and projects can be given a boost, for strengthening this kind of process infrequent communication and communication in a work free environment or a casual environment can be encouraged. At this level partnerships and cross functional teams are created that help each other to achieve the organization's goal more effectively and efficiently. (Kotelnikov, 200

Business Law - Essay Example A member can be influenced by a number of factorsââ¬âenvironment, ambitions, personal preferences, inherent traits, etc that can make it considerably difficult to keep his or her word. In this circumstance, the call for a leader cannot be undervalued. A leader ensures that all members are acquainted with the goals of the organization, of their duties and responsibilities; and that their performance is driven towards the success of the organization. The leader holds the coercive power upon whom members will tender respect and obedience to; thus instigating agreeable relationships within the organization. Similarly, an organization should sustain laws or a set of policies that all members across the board must adhere to. Laws are the embodiment of justice, a sense of equality among all ranks and status, and the regulating force that maintains order and discipline in an organization. They serve as a valid contract under which all organizational affairs are constrained. When laws are properly imposed, it may not be stimulation towards a job well done, but rationale of a favourable behaviour. Members will be discouraged to inflict harm upon another, or cause detriment to the organization for that

Managing Multinational Operations Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words
Managing Multinational Operations - Essay Example From this perspective, China now stands as an investment heaven for foreign investors due to several factors, such as cheap labor, incentives for multinational companies, and relaxation in tax policies that have been few factors from the list. Experts have indicated that as China was successful in surpassing the success rate of USA in terms of FDI in the year 2002, there is a huge possibility that it may become the largest economy by the year 2020 that now seems quite possible (Ching, 2008). After becoming member of the WTO, there has been greater liberty in the sectors of industry and services, and decrease in customs duty has been another major factor of establishment of new foreign firms in China. In particular, studies have indicated that multinational companies especially in the sectors of ââ¬Å"distribution, logistics, financial services, and telecommunicationsâ⬠(PricewaterhouseCoopers, 2008) have benefited significantly from such liberalization. Besides, analysis has sh own that there has been introduction of various policies by the Chinese government to give privilege to foreign investors and multinational companies, in order to promote foreign investment in the country and that will be fruitful for any multinational firm that will be entering in China to establish business. A major step has been the implementation of socialist market economy in China that has created an encouraging environment for new investments. Moreover, it is very imperative for a country to be constant in its tax policies and regulations that has been the case of China, consequently, resulting in positive arena for multinational firms to operate in the country. However, while planning to establish business in China, one should have an understanding that few strategies enjoy greater relaxation and liberalization, such as the businesses that ââ¬Å"bring in advanced technology, management expertise and high-caliber talentâ⬠(PricewaterhouseCoopers, 2008). Thus, if Acme is planning to penetrate in the Chinese market, it will have to make efforts to focus on the quality while ensuring advance technologies in its different processes and procedures. Furthermore, Chinese government promotes multinational firms and foreign investors that facilitate the process of ââ¬Å"ecological construction, environmental protection, and conservation, and the more efficient use of resources and energyâ⬠(PricewaterhouseCoopers, 2008). Besides such opportunities for multinational firms, there still exist few hurdles; however, the Chinese government has been endeavoring to deal with the issues to promote more firms in the Chinese market. For instance, firms that bring in foreign investment in China enjoy liberalization and relaxation in the processes of ââ¬Å"foreign exchange balancing, and raw materials sourcingâ⬠(PricewaterhouseCoopers, 2008) that allow the firms to run the business more effectively in the country. Additionally, in the past, firms had this limitation of using local market for materials; however, now, they enjoy the relaxation of giving priority to either local market or the international market while buying raw materials and fuels. On the other hand, there are few restrictions for multinational firms and foreign investors in the process of acquiring approval on capital contributions and participation in some particular sectors of the Chinese marke

Impact of Management on Organizations Term Paper
Impact of Management on Organizations - Term Paper Example This paper is an attempt to explore the various dimensions and dynamics of the impact of management on organizations. Whether positive or negative and internal or external, the paper will critically analyze this impact. During this discussion, this paper will touch various sub topics under the umbrella of such as strategic management, leadership, and managing change. Body/Discussion Before even initiating the discussion about management and its impact on organizations, it is imperative to present the basic idea and definition of management. According to its definition, management refers to the process of achieving organizational goals and objectives effectively and efficiently by engaging in ââ¬Å"the major functions of management, which are planning, organizing, leading, and controllingâ⬠. Planning is ââ¬Å"the process of setting goals and deciding on the best possible methods of achieving themâ⬠(Hamel & Breen, 2007). Without goals, objectives, and targets, management cannot even exist. The first task of management is to set a vision and create objectives about what the organization intends to achieve and how it intends to achieve the same (Daft & Lane, 2009). Consider the example of Whirlpool, a Fortune 500 company which is celebrating its 100 birthday this current year, to understand the importance of planning as the function of management and its impact on the overall organization. The overall objective of the company, during the 1990s was to achieve the best possible performance in delivering the shareholder value. The company went on to define that as achieving the target of revenues of 15 billion US dollars annually from their existing level of 7 billion US dollars (Hamel & Breen, 2007). Whirlpool and its executives and managers knew that this is an imper ative yet difficult task and something had to done effectively in order to achieve this target. The company initiated intensive efforts to understand the needs, wants, demands, expectations, ideas, and thoughts of the customers so that the company could introduce the best possible products, which are in line with the needs of the
College vs. High School Essay Example for Free
College vs. High School Essay There is so much freedom and you must use your time wisely in order to succeed. When you get to the university you will find you meet all sorts of people from all over the place with so many different cultural backgrounds and religions and beliefs and opinions. You get exposed to new ideas and new experiences. The classes are very different too. If you live on campus, it will likely be your first time living away from home, which is a huge experience. And once you find your major, you will find your people. You will actually be going to school with people who want to be there. As opposed to high school where students have to be there and many can careless about the subjects. College is a completely new experience with many unique aspects that can change and help define ones life. Many people love college, and find it to be a new beginning. It is a new opportunity to define yourself as an individual. You can establish a new image, because everyone is looking to do the exact same thing. In college, its time to strap down and get to work. Theres really no room for error. Classes are spread out throughout the week, and you often have much down time. There is a lot of work and it is crammed into a short period. It is up to you to know when to eat lunch, and it is up to you when to study. It is also your decision to fill that time where you are not studying or doing work with productive things. High school is a period in which many new things happen. You now find yourself in a world full of raging hormones, honors classes, and new found freedoms. High school is routine in a way. You have your eight or so classes year round, and you know when you will be eating lunch. The same kids you went to elementary and middle school with probably are the same kids you went to high school with. Basically, high school is much regimented, and many people find themselves having the same friends for many years. Because of this, in turn once a reputation or image was established for you in high school, most likely that was going to stick with you for the rest of your time left. The work in high school is a piece of cake. Unless you are taking honors or AP courses, there is really no reason why someones GPA should drop below 2. 5. Classes in high school are small in size, usually between twenty and thirty students, and there is a one on one feeling with the teacher. It is a laid back atmosphere because everyone knows each other. Also in high school, many students find a way around the school part. Countless students slack off and dont apply themselves to their work or studies. Because of this, many students find themselves doing new extracurricular activities, and I think we all know what is meant by that. It is very easy in high school to fall into bad habits. High School is a perfect opportunity to go down the wrong path and find yourself in bad situations. In conclusion, even though high school is an important step in life, college is an even bigger step. They are similar in some ways but in others they are the same. High school prepares you for college. It is a time full of new experiences and lessons. College is a new chapter in life and you can basically start over. In a way, college is a mature version of high school. High school and college are what you make of it. To find the true similarities and differences, one must experience both for themselves.

Learning English as a Second Language Essay Example for Free
Learning English as a Second Language Essay From the content in the introductory part of the WebQuest, It is true that English is common language for the native people but for the non native people it is challenging and requires one to go through a series of classes compounded by determination and willingness to learn in order to understand it well. The thesis statement of the web quest gives an over view of what the rest of the content is all about. It gives the fundamental steps of learning English which involves understanding the meaning of different vocabularies provided and using them in a well structured and grammatically correct sentence. As a teaching material, this WebQuest highlights the main objectives, which will serve as the yard stick of determining whether the intended purpose of the WebQuest is achieved. In addition to this, I give a positive feed back to the way the learning process is arranged. Understanding a word and pronouncing it correctly is indeed the fundamental step in solving the complexity in English as a language. This is because it creates a dovetail for the construction of grammatically and structurally perfect sentences to fit. Team work is undoubtedly important in building confidence among the students. It also enables them to share their difficulties and hence understand the challenges a head of them. Provision of resources is of importance because it gives the whole learning process the originality and reliability it deserves. The evolution process cannot go unaccredited because it will enable the lecturers to know if the objectives were met. However, the WebQuest fails to show what the students should do if they fail the second step of understanding the meaning of the words in the sentences. This in my opinion is crucial for the process of learning English as a second language.

Factors in Financing Public Education
Factors in Financing Public Education Introduction to Public Education Public Education is about the development of each child as an individual and their abilities to benefit our societies. Colleges and universities are critical social enterprises that have operated largely unchanged for centuries. In recent years, however, the traditional models of higher education have struggled to respond to the demands of new consumer groups, rapidly evolving demands of existing stakeholders, and emerging technologies that fundamentally change historic assumptions about how, when, why and what people learn (Public Administration Review, 2015). Public Education in the United States means a free education for all students, which holds importance to families who are underprivileged but still deserve the right to education regardless of their religion, race or abilities. Education holds importance as our nation has strengthened because of what people know and can do. Public education has provided opportunity for advancement and made an economic difference for individual s, as The United States is a world leader in high school completion Eighty-seven percent of eighteen to twenty four year olds have completed high school (American Imperative, 2006). So, public education is a worthy investment for state government, with immense social and economic benefits. However, there still remains a high and low end of annual expenditures of counties within the states on education, as it is never equal. Improving education outcomes has been shown through studies to result in national saving of about seven billion dollars in public assistance, food stamps, and housing assistance. These are just a few examples of what the governments funds towards education can help reduce the funds needed in other areas. Also, with improved education society benefits when citizens are employed with higher earnings as it gives the government the ability to collect greater tax revenue. All of these factors contribute to why education holds importance for citizens as well as our gov ernment, but the lack of financial support is the issue of importance. Most believe the federal budget is of more importance to our government than the education of citizens, which is the only way we get knowledgeable citizens to run our government. Supporting Factor of Finances Spent on Public Education Nearly half of the K-12 education funding in the United States is intended to come from the states, drawn from a combination of income taxes, fees, and other taxes. This is why the public finances contribute to education, because without these funds the educational systems of each state would fail to exist. As an overall share of the total federal budget, federal spending on elementary and secondary education programs through the U.S. Department of Education account for less than three percent of the total federal budget. In the annual appropriations process, elementary and secondary education funding accounts for about five percent of discretionary funding across all federal programs. Early school funding litigation efforts generally focused on education equity, which sought the same level of per-pupil funding for every student in the state. Since the late 1980s, litigation has focused more on education adequacy, which seeks funding levels necessary to ensure that every student rece ives an adequate education. Defining what constitutes an adequate education as well as what resources are necessary to provide that level of education, have been central questions in the litigation (School Finance). For the past several years, we have been living through the most severe recession since the Great Depression, which has affected public education, not just through cuts to core programs, but through job losses that destabilize students families, cuts to other critical services that the communities depend on, and stress that pulls at the social fabric that unites us. Public Education is a public responsibility and must be a public trust. As used here, the term public education means education that is publicly financed, tuition- free, accountable to public authorities, and accessible to all students. It covers various types of public schools, including traditional schools, charter and magnet schools, vocational schools, and alternative schools. During the 1960s and 70s, th e federal government enacted a series of laws aimed at improving education for poor children, migrant children, students with disabilities, Native Americans, limited-English proficient children, and women and girls. These laws brought additional funding to public schools, along with new requirements to meet the special needs of particular groups of students. In recent years, the emphasis of state and federal reforms has shifted to improving public education for allstudents. The No Child Left Behind Act requires public schools to steadily raise achievement and to close the test score gaps that exist for minority, poor, and special needs students until one hundred percent of United States students are performing at the same high level. Schools that fall short of these goals must undergo a series of interventions. In summary, the growth of public education during the past two centuries has been fueled by high ideals about advancing the common good, but the realities of public schools h ave sometimes failed to live up to these ideals (Kober, 2007). Most taxpayers provide this subsidy because public education in their eyes is crucial to forming the public good. It prevents poverty as well as decreases the crime rate, and prepares young people for the work force, and fosters social mobility. The United States has changed dramatically since the early debates on the role of public schools and the role of the federal government in supporting and sustaining them. The importance of education for the common good has shifted from primarily local control to state and national control, with national attention from the Federal government and national organizations. Studies have shown that twenty five percent of most state budgets contribute to educational funding (Jenkins and Hill, 2011). States are one of the main funders of the nations public elementary and secondary schools, which provide grants to local school districts where entities are responsible for administering scho ols. However, the federal government provides only about ten percent of public school revenues. Although the funding numbers have increased, there is still a lack of federal dollars relating to the opposing factors. Opposing Factors of Finances Spent on Public Education Americans spend more to educate their children than the citizens of most other countries; in fact, only Norway spends more per capita on education. Yet when it comes to student performance, the United States ranks no better than average, resting directly in the middle of the pack of developed nations. Rising government debts and lack of improved student performance have led some to call for cutbacks in school funding. In recent years, skyrocketing state and federal debt levels have led some politicians to support cuts in the educational budget. Conservative politicians have vowed to eliminate the Department of Education ever since its creation, arguing that schooling is an issue for states and local governments to handle, and that tax dollars could be better spent elsewhere. Another strategy aimed at reducing government spending is the restriction of public employee union rights, particularly those of teachers unions. In 2011, Wisconsin governor Scott Walker introduced a bill that so ught to eliminate the right of teachers and other public employees to collectively bargain for their salary and benefits. This was presented as a way to reduce state costs and to help close the budget gap. Critics of the current public school system have argued that, despite massive education spending in recent decades, public schools are doing a progressively worse job of educating American children. For example, Washington, DC, boasts one of the highest per-student school funding rates, yet scores below average on student performance. Public school advocates point out that much of the current spending in the public school system goes toward administrative costs; if the federal and state governments reduced the number of regulations and policies that school districts are forced to follow, they assert, the money saved could be spent on improving the teacher-to-student ratio and purchasing necessary classroom supplies such as textbooks-areas proven to directly impact student performa nce (Gale, 2015). Assessment of Supporting and Opposing Sides of Public Education Funding In my research, I found that both of the supporting and opposing sides have arguable factors to their belief in whether or not public financing through the government is relevant and helpful in education. I believe that while both sides do show factual proof of evidence, I agree that finances should be used in the budgeting process of the government and states for education. Each citizen should be given full advantage of an education to broaden their future regardless of their financial situation. As the schooling systems receive funds, this allows an opportunity for supplies as well as facilities to be created and purchased to hold schooling and educational opportunities. The supporting and opposing factors are a result in the expenditures of tax dollars and revenues, which creates the combustion between the two parties. While it is hard to provide whether one argument trumps another, I feel that the supporting factors of government spending on education are pertinent to myself. Pub lic education specifically relates to myself because if it were not for the opportunity to receive a free education through my local government, my parents would not have obtained the ability to send me to receive a higher education; college. Also, in the supporting factors is stated the factual evidence that education improves the communities as well as lowers things such as crime rates which is of importance to our common wealth and good. The federal and state debt levels have led to politicians deceiving beliefs in education as well as their support in reducing the federal budget for them. This has led to controversy about whether the issue should be left to state and local or federal government when it comes to the financial standpoint. If education is what entails a citizen being equipped for their desired field, then I do not see why limiting the money for a skill needed for employment would even be an option. If the federal government is limited in the education department, t hen that includes the omission of federal student loans to only private loans. Federal government has to rebuild their education funding. Conclusion As the federal debt is increasing, I agree that the federal government has to budget accordingly in the educational department. In suggestion, federal loans for education should be limited, which would reduce the amount of college debt in America, which has recently exceeded the amount borrowed on credit cards. As there is much insight to what should occur in the governments action, opinions of citizens persist. It is made clear in the arguments that government funds are needed in order for education to occur as the state funding and grants are not enough. Education is important for all citizens because even the intelligent kids should be given the opportunity to receive a diploma in order to share their ideas in corporations or even a government position in their future. As there is the opposing factor that although all these funds poor into the school systems of lower level income areas, the testing scores still remain low which cause confrontation between the supporting and opposi ng parties. This occurs in every school system, as there are students with lower motivation in private schooling where their education is paid for by their parents and not the government. Government funds are also used to provide an income for what I think is one of the most important occupations in the United States, which is the career of teaching. Teachers often use their own funds to provide school materials, or to make the classroom environment more collaborative and energetic for students, but they are argued against as some citizens think they should no receive pay. While much of a schools budget is believed to be spent on the administration, there are other things that play into the factor of finances such as the cost of a new gymnasium facility to keep the students healthy, art room and supplies to allow creativity, books for the knowledge and development of the brain, as well as a playground for the enjoyment of being a kid. A parent with three children and a $20,000 salar y per year should not have to fight for their child a free education just because of their circumstances. I believe that government should require the local and state governments to pour their tax dollars into an education because it overall creates a better place. Public Finance plays into the issue because the collection of taxes is used for the public good in which this case, the public educate is the good. I am in support of government financial support in funding education, and firmly believe that it distributes good to our society through its outcome. References (2016, September 26). Law in Action Essay -- State Rights, Oregon
Along with the American right to live with certain inalienable freedoms, citizens of Oregon have had the opportunity to exercise their state-given ââ¬Å"right to dieâ⬠for the previous 17 years. In response to citizen initiative, the State of Oregon passed the Death With Dignity Act (DWDA) in 1994 to allow terminally ill patients the access to a lethal dose of doctor-prescribed medication. Oregon is one of only two U.S. states with ââ¬Å"Death With Dignityâ⬠legislation, and it has vigorously protected this act from criticism and attempted legal invalidation for years (Office of Disease Prevention and Epidemiology, n.d.). Despite vehement opposition and regular ethical questioning, DWDA has successfully allowed hundreds of gravely ill Oregon citizens to safely control the circumstances of their death. With improvements to its system of collecting patient data, its mental health evaluation requirements, and its level of doctor accountability, the law could provide this ser vice in an even more efficient and responsible way. From its official enactment in 1997, DWDA has aimed to provide qualified, terminally ill Oregon patients the opportunity to end their lives through the use of a doctor-prescribed, self-administered, lethal prescription (The Oregon Death With Dignity Act, 1994). A patient wishing to receive the prescription must be 18 years of age, a resident of Oregon, mentally competent, and diagnosed with a fatal disease that will likely lead to death within six months, and the patient must pass through a multitude of safeguards. First, a patient must make two oral requests for the medication to his or her physician 15 days apart, followed by a signed written request. Then two separate doctors evaluate the individualââ¬â¢s cognitive capabilit... ... peace of mind for the family, and for the legal security of the doctor, patients should undergo supervision until the time of their death, not merely until the time they receive the prescription. This final addition to DWDA would greatly increase approval within the medical community for this exceedingly debated law. Through two legal attempts to invalidate the law and years of criticism from a wide range of adversaries, DWDA has managed to provide a valuable service to over 500 ailing Oregon patients. Legislators could avoid future legal challenges and improve the safety for participating individuals by enacting and enforcing a few powerful safeguards regarding doctor accountability and patientsââ¬â¢ mental health. Regardless, DWDA sets an unparalleled precedent in the realm of assisted suicide, and other states should strive for similar revolutionary legislation. Background In 1968 Bob Noyce, Gordon Moore and Andy Grove founded a new company that built semiconductor memory products, named NM Electronics Inc. Moore and Noyce had problems with the copyright of the companyââ¬â¢s name as it already belonged to a hotel chain. Wolffââ¬â¢s Critique of Chopinââ¬â¢s The Awakening Essays -- Chopin Awakening
Wolffââ¬â¢s Critique of Chopinââ¬â¢s The Awakening The critical case study to the novel establishes a definition of a type of critical response, and then gives as close an example that fits that mode of criticismââ¬âBORING! First, the book has these forms of criticism laid out contiguously, as if they occurred only spatially and not temporally. This flattened and skewed representation of critical approaches, taking an argument out of its context (an academic debate) and uses it as if it were a pedagogical tool. Just as criticism in many ways takes the life out of the text, by dissecting it and making it a part of an argument, the ââ¬Å"model critical approachâ⬠takes the life out of criticism. It is interesting to see how the different Case Studies in Contemporary Criticism are altered by the text they are describing. For example, I have one volume on Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man, and another for Great Expectations, both of which demonstrate the extent to which the object of critique affects the critique itself, such that ââ¬Å"deconstruction criticismâ⬠in an intellectual vacuum is something different than when a scholar tries to apply it to a particular text, altering both the text as well as the principles of deconstruction. The Awakening gender criticism takes on a different feel from Great Expectation gender criticism even though they are informed by the same principles, because gender in the early Victorian Dickens is different than in the turn of the century American Chopin. In this way the criticism co-constructs with the primary document something different than both the criticism and the original text. Such a syntheses have produced exciting and inn ovative ideas, refreshing and reviving works from the tombs of academia. Unfor... ... is also a politics involving real becomings, an entire becoming clandestine. (A Thousand Plateaus 188) Finally, the sea is a common trope for mother, and maternalââ¬âthat from which life springs. We are presented with Edna running away from Protestant society (the dynamo, the father) to Catholic Creole society (the earth-goddess transformed into the Madonna). She runs away from her father, and there is no mother for her to run towards except the archetypal sea. If these mythic formations say anything, the novel says something about Ednaââ¬â¢s own lost mother. Is the tragedy of the book that this mother is never found even though Edna followed the trail to the musty scent? Is the tragedy of the story Ednaââ¬â¢s mother died giving birth to Edna, leaving Edna with only one memory of her motherââ¬âthe musty scent of childbirth? Does this inform her attitudes toward motherhood?

Older parts can be social functiond which whitethorn be limited to 10/100 megabit. If you sine qua non an exact answer for speed, simply look at the wiki on gigabit. What is the Capacity veer? A board with 6 SATA ports can be replicated (1 to 5 port) al down(p)ing for 30 drives to be attached. Is ther e whatsoever misunderstanding tolerance (such RAID) create into a NAS device? As fault tolerance, raid 50 is fairly invariable if set up correctly, raid 10 has been touted as one of the best setups since more drives can fail at one time without selective information loss. distributively(prenominal) of those features can be used on typical NAS devices. ar management features available? Yes Speculate on why a user would sine qua non to use a NAS. For cause, what would be the emolument of all family photos and videos being stored on a NAS in a family where the p arents and children all had their own computers? NAS is network allocated storage apart from any other systems attached to the network. There are a lot of considerations 1. Power usage. All users may shutdown their computers. Some slew build NAS from atom boards and other things for their low power characteristics. ) 2. Always on availability. As long as the network is up and the NAS is functioning, it is unendingly available regardless of what computers are on/off the network. 3. Centralized stock for backup. If a computer needs to be rebuilt or wiped, you can push files and backups and cure from the same location. 4. Cost effective. Installing a RAID 1 in each computer (Mirror drive) would cost more and use more storage than perhaps a RAID 5 in the NAS with multiple PCs.This may apply more to offices than for example a small home with 2-3 PCs. 5. Redundancy. close to personal computers operate a champion drive (cost consideration) or on process considerations (RAID 0 etc. ) more so than reliability. NAS are typically setup for tautology in case of drive chastisement (RAID 1,5,6 and the various permutations. ) 6. Lower priority data. This doesnt always apply, but lower priority data can be moved to some other location (for example, VM Images). They take up storage space, but a user may not want this to take up higher priority space.
Function of E-Book
The functions of E-book in doctrine and scholarship. Books ar no doubt the main element in program line and run acrossing activities. As we all know printed books move over already been used for a very recollective meter. However in this modern era, books in electronic forms (eBooks) argon taking place. EBooks had already been introduced non completely for adults unless children too. Finally, eBooks atomic moment 18 already evolving slowly to fulfill place in instruction and erudition. A right on stimulus for the business of a range of electronic instrument for education has been provided by the latest applied science inventions.Numerous ideas and educational materials are invented and extensively published electronically to support the field of teaching and learning, however it is fluid unclear how far all of this is of use among the students and teachers when it bugger offs to the practical(prenominal) teaching and learning. Suggestions on how to advance the quality of the products and materials that are already available are still in great demand as the existing electronic books have not completely replaced the physical counterpart. The quip between utilitarian and usefulness is quite coarse to prove the lack of effectiveness of the first times of e-books, and the progress of e-books has been led majorly by technology quite of the users demand. In the education field, E-books faecal matter be found in various lawsuit of media instrument like CD-Rom, the internet and in each portable reading materials. Variety types of element are implemented in e-books, for example fiction and non-fiction. A textbook is a source of information on a particular subject. An electronic textbook on the separate hand is almost the same but it is more special as e-textbook is an e-book that has a subject matter of educational material for teaching and learning surgery. E-textbooks are now officially known as educational source that have already publis hed electronically to help in both teaching and learning methods. They are ready to be used at heart a computer environment, through media such as internet or CD-ROM. In the early 1990s, the dissipate of educational multimedia was surprisingly very firm and it was proven by the people that it is more estimable when converting printed publication into electronic form. unconnected from that, it has been discussed that e-book is basically implemented to improve the bear on of memoriseing outside the classroom, and as time goes by, a technological instrument was made where a powerful incentive is created to invent such electronic material for the students. It is better for the people to be updated to both information to learn by using e-book as printed books are always out-of-date and are still replaced with an average of eight years. Limitless and faster overture to any latest immatures and information whoremaster be experienced via electronic learning (Hamilton et al. 2001) . It was verbalise that electronic education will benefit a lot of people because of its capability to enhance the co-operation and among the students and the teachers (Hambrecht, 2000). Apart from that, higher triumph rate can be seen. However more effort should be contributed towards promoting e-book among the new generations as financial support plays an important fiber in this matte (Wilson, 2003). Similar to the ordinary printed books, e-book helps the readers to assure and focus on important messages by underlining them and write simple notes. In addition, e-books are user-friendly too as it is installed with portable dictionary program which made it easier to prospect up for unfamiliar words. E-book has definitely made the teaching and learning process to be more evoke than ever because the user queer to watch clips and move with a variety of specialities. It has been proven that the youngsters can cod a lot from the added applications (Maynard and McKnight, 2001). A t schools, e-textbooks on the other hand will reduce the number of printed textbooks that not only burden both the teachers and students carrying them to-and-fro around the school compound. This enables the teacher to easily bring the notes including the exercises to be given over to the student which thus increases the effectiveness of teaching. With the presence if the electronic book, space can be saved which in particular helps a lot in places mainly the libraries. Decades ago, e-books were not preferred because the prices were too high. In the year 2000, the production of e-books have became larger and the cost of each e-book is move (Mayfield, 2000). This indicates that a major procedure in promoting the use of e-textbooks in school had been done.another(prenominal) form of e-book, CD-ROM in addition known as the copy of the encyclopedia is alike famous among the students nowadays. They can easily get copies of the course of their subjects in rove for them to study bac k at home and easily bring the topics for discussion among their peers. Another branch of e-book, Hypertextbooks is a famous instrument of synergetic studying on the internet in the western sandwich country. This electronic file containing the learning materials enables the user to study at their own rhythm and the students will bare their assignment to the respective person through email. This concludes that with the upgrading of the process of studying, the students will no longer have the rationality not to send their assignments on time. Top of the information, at schools teachers will have no problem to go the class because the students will be more center and enthusiastic to carry on with their assignments compared to the printed pages. Even though e-textbooks can contribute towards the improvement in assisting the process of teaching and learning, there are still factors that go their acceptance such as the insufficient number of computers and labs and the low number of publishers. This signifies that e-book can help in the education field but the chance to draw in it a reality might prove problematic. harmonize to Hambrechts theory, it is believed that e-education is potential in bringing the students and teachers to come together as one in order to enhance the class sessions activities (Hambrecht, 2000). The investigate about CD-ROM clarified that users will be more interested to learn and use their resources. The children peculiarly, bewilder that learning is more fun with the presence of fine graphics and sound effects. This thus motivates them to continue to learn more which in return will foster their thinking skills. Teachers on the other hand recognise this way of teaching as it is both socialise and educational. The e-book users prefer to use this modern way of learning because of the more presentable format which brings a tick off new perspective towards the people to experience a more lively way of reading especially the story boo k lovers. Children once exposed to the drill of e-book they will be used to electronic devices and in future, they will no longer rely on the old traditional method which is the printed book.Electronic texts are no doubt a passage for the generation to get an easy access in education for kick upstairs study and analysis. The fertile ground for the improvement of teaching and learning, e-book, can benefit the generations greatly in call of the enjoyment of interesting studying method. As a conclusion, the educators should look into this matter more clearly and cook up an effort to add electronic texts in their teachings if they seaportt start doing so. Cooperation among the parents and the educators are the key to success to make a change to the younger generations. This invertebrate foot will for sure end the upcoming rampart in generating intellectual students.Reference Hambrecht, W. (2000), Exploring a New Frontier, corporal E-Learning.
